Vitthalwadi Adopt a River Stretch
This is the first adopted stretch project on the Mutha river.
We started the work on 26th May 2017. It started with 3 people and now there is a group of 30 people, who consistently work there. Group is growing day by day. We are aiming to connect with every family and every citizen in this area.
Stretch we are adopting is full of natural beauty. River takes a turn near the stretch. Stretch has some rocky patches, wetlands and riparian zones. Around 30 species of birds can be seen in this stretch.
This stretch has a very beautiful temple of Lord Shiva. The temple has a sculpture of a devotee of Lord Vitthal called Pundalik. This temple is around 175 years old. This temple is made up of stone and withstanding for years in massive floods and river currents.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
- Margaret Mead
Inspired by this thought, We started working on this beautiful stretch by gathering localites and river lovers in this area. Starting from 3, now we have a team of 70 and increasing day by day.
