Crows, Kites (Pariah or Black kite), Pond Herons? Right?
Unlike plants, birds are mobile. When conditions of ecosystem change, the birds for whom those conditions are not favorable, move out and their place is taken by the birds for whom conditions are right.
Birds, this way, are indicators of health of the river. These 3 birds are scavenging type of birds. They feed on the waste. That clearly describes condition of the river, isn’t it?
Lot of it is available for them to feast on.
